There is a place...

...A place where you can pass the time in cafes or restaurants...

...Or sit in the cobblestone square and shop in old-style shops...much as life was hundreds of years ago...

...Where life is as it should be...peaceful...civilized...and safe...

...Where you can live in a condo on the beach, a traditional hacienda, or a simple house in the country or city...

...Where your medical, dental, and prescription costs are a fraction of those in the US...

...Where low costs will make you feel like your money is multiplying by magic...

...Where you can shed stress, eat healthy foods, watch fat disappear, and soon enjoy more robust health and energy...

...Where the deepest desires of your soul will be fulfilled, and you will find true peace and contentment...

Dear Reader,

If you're one of those people who has been searching to change your life, I have good news for you.

In this letter you're going to find the key—the secret—to doing just that.

It's not difficult...it's been available to you virtually all your life. You may just not have known about it.

It's not far-fetched—it's not some "get rich quick" scheme that will supposedly set you free...only AFTER you've made millions of dollars on some questionable venture.

It's not abstract—some "feel good" or "discover yourself" secret that will leave you only momentarily satisfied.

It's real. It's attainable. And you will find it this short letter.

You may find it on the next page, you may find it on the last...but it's here, and you will find it—IF YOU ARE READY.

Please don't think this is an accidental discovery...an "overnight sensation"...some fleeting opportunity. On the contrary—it is the product of THIRTY YEARS OF HARD RESEARCH.

"I question how long it would have taken me to learn—on my own—even a fraction of what you've presented. Thank you so much."
—S. Lee T., Hot Springs, AR

And it has been proven —thousands of people's lives have been changed by the knowledge I'm going to share with you.

The secret is to look beyond what you know...beyond the shores of the US...beyond what is familiar. For you will not find it there.

But there's no need to stumble in the dark...finding your way through trial and error...looking for that wonderland that will give you a life you've only dreamed of.

We can lead you by the hand, open the door for you...and show you a life that will satisfy your deepest desires.

The Best Place on Earth?

We have found the best place on earth.

If you want to travel, you really shouldn't miss it.

If you want to move overseas and still work, it's a dream (it's beautiful, it's full of entrepreneurial opportunities, you can easily telecommute, and your expenses are absurdly low).

If you want to retire, you could live a life of luxury on a Social Security income.

Life in the Land of Eternal Spring

Recently I received a letter from someone who had moved to this secret place.

Two years earlier, he and his wife had decided to quit their jobs and take a "career break."

They discovered this little corner of the earth on a trip in April 2008... Six months later they had moved there.

And they love it.

Although it's still not overrun, this small city (actually tiny by world standards) attracts people from all around the world, who bring with them energy and vitality.

It has a great university that attracts aspiring doctors, philosophers, engineers, scientists, and journalists. You meet them everywhere.

Because of its location, the weather is near perfect all year round. There are valleys of flowers, green grass, and rushing rivers. It's surrounded by majestic mountains, small villages, beautiful lakes, and some of the most diverse wildlife on earth. Studies have shown the altitude there is good for you, and as our friends say, it's so energizing you'll feel 10 years younger.

In the morning, they love to enjoy fresh coffee with fresh fruits from the local market. The table is covered with plates of sliced mangos. The owners all know them by name... and save their freshest products and biggest smiles for the "crazy American couple" who seem to think this freshness is so exciting (the owners all grew up with it—to them it's NORMAL).

At the flower stall, they buy 25 long-stem roses for $4. And every week a traditional spring bouquet of herbs, mint, fresh chamomile, meadow flowers, and evergreens that the ladies at the market make for them.

Houses there are traditionally swept out with these fragrant bouquets to make sure any negative energy is kept at bay—so they do the same.

No matter which restaurant they go to, their meal is made fresh. And they're expected to enjoy it—no one hovers over them to "turn over" the table.

The bill is always a pleasant surprise.

Lunchtime is an ever-changing four-course lunch special for around $2 a person. The time-honored two-hour lunch break brings out a huge crowd. Professionals, office workers, and store employees flood the streets and the lush squares.

The streets are packed with the latest styles from Paris and Milan, contrasted with the striking colors of local women in their beautiful dresses and shawls.

The cost of living? Almost unbelievable for an American.

Rent is $350 a month and includes all utilities, cable, and Internet. Living expenses are $400 to $600 a month—with no penny-pinching. You can walk almost everywhere. But buses are 25 cents and taxis are $1.

A great life for $750 to $950 a month.

Another couple lives in a different town. And their budget is LESS THAN $600 A MONTH! In their 50s, they rent a three-bedroom apartment in a mountain town for $150 a month. They pay $250 for food (and eat out every day)...$50 for medicine...$40 for maid service...and $24 to have their laundry done. With $2 hair cuts, $2 manicures, $2.50 four-course dinners, $10 doctor's visits...it's hard to go broke, even if you try. And they say that every day is packed with new friends, new sights, and new experiences.

Culturally, there is the modern influence of the university and young people. Yet it's also like stepping back in time. There's a church that was built in 1557...and the "new" cathedral that dates back to1880.

As for those expenses that are usually major financial issues?

You can pay just $110 in taxes on a $170,000 property...

You can earn $60,000 and pay just $5,908 in taxes...

Or you could enjoy a HUGE U.S. overseas tax break ($87,600 for 2008...It's adjusted up for inflation each year, so you're talking $90,000 for 2010...and MORE every year)...

I could go on and on. But what I'd like to do is send you a special report on this place titled Your Little Piece of Paradise: The Best Place in the World to Live or Retire Today. And test-drive a subscription to International Living magazine, packed full of even more information on the jet-set lifestyle I've described to you today.

If you don't like it, we'll refund your money, and the report is yours to keep. So really you have nothing to lose...and literally the whole world to gain...

And if—by chance—THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO LIVE OR RETIRE TODAY doesn't suit you, there is a good chance I can help you find the right place for you...

First, let me introduce myself...

How You Can Find the World of Your Dreams

My name is Bill Bonner. Thirty years ago, I started a little magazine called International Living. And for 30 years my staff and I have dedicated ourselves to finding unknown opportunities around the globe.

We found you...

  • Ways to travel first class —but on a coach budget.
  • French chateaux selling for fractions of their real value...
  • Irish pubs—where you could buy a house... and a business... for a song...
  • Beachfront properties in Central and South America for less than a tenth of what you'd pay in the U.S. (with prettier beaches, too)

In other words, we've made it our business to seek out the best the world has to offer, and lay it at the feet of our readers.

And sometimes these opportunities have been just what people were looking for to change their life.

Let me give you just one quick example...

PINCH ME—I'M DREAMING!

"When I'm not growing my business, I often sit on our deck and watch huge schools of bonito make the sea boil as they thrash about. I also can see and hear many dolphins from our deck. They love to jump and play together...all the time. It brings a tear to my eyes at times...and I need to pinch myself to believe that I'm here—experiencing such wonders in my new life."
—Penny L.

International Living – The World Tied Up in a Bow
And Laid at Your Doorstep

Although it's a magazine (with a website that stays constantly refreshed with information) it goes beyond the world of paper and Internet.

It's really a "doorway" to the world.

We put you in touch with a network of more than 200 correspondents worldwide. Writing from Britain, the Greek islands, Mexico, Vietnam,, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Brazil, France, Uruguay, Ecuador, Belize, Ireland, the South Pacific... and dozens of other areas around the world.

These correspondents make sure you have the firsthand, unbiased information you need to benefit from your international travel or living experience. We help you "see" and "feel" places...before you spend a dime to visit them.

It's hard for many Americans to believe life can be so different... and more than one has written to us to express their doubts.

"Visit," we say. "That way you'll know for sure before you go."

Simple.

REINVENTING LIFE

"As an International Living subscriber, I'd spent a couple of years dreaming of a new life somewhere in Latin America. Since my partner had been in the hospitality business, we decided that running our own B&B was our best option. We enjoy our new lives tremendously and have no regrets. The pace is different in my new career. Last year, our occupancy rate was 95%."
Murray F.

And some people worry when we tell them they'll be able to get GOOD medical care. Fortunately, there are many good doctors around the world...

BETTER, CHEAPER MEDICAL CARE!

"...The physician was polite, professional, and spoke English well, as my Spanish is practically nonexistent so far. After a thorough checkup, he proclaimed that I had an inner ear problem, and with a huge smile on his face he stated, ‘I'll give you a shot, and in 20 minutes you'll feel much better!' That is what he did, and he was right. He wrote a prescription for more of the medicine to take every six hours until my ear problem improved. The bill, you ask? $50, including the shot. Also, he gave me his cell phone number, telling me to call him any time day or night if I needed anything at all. Wow! I was even able to attend the wonderful poolside cocktail party that evening! Dan and Suzan have been writing about the great medical care in Mexico, but I have to say, after experiencing it firsthand, they are so right on. Thanks to IL and their great staff for an incredible conference in Mexico. It surpassed my expectations and is only the first of many I hope to attend."
—Trish S.

That's a story we've heard over and over again...including government mandated low-cost healthcare in a Johns Hopkins affiliated hospital in Panama. (Johns Hopkins is continually rated the top hospital in the United States.)

The best health care in the world for incredibly low costs.

(In one ranking of the top 1,000 hospitals in the world, in the top 10% were hospitals in Chile and Brazil, Europe, Asia, and Australia. And in the top 20% were hospitals all across the globe.)

When you subscribe to International Living, you'll get tons of specific information about living and retiring overseas, such as:

  • The Quality of Life Index, published every January. It rates and ranks the quality of life in every country in the world. This index is unique. It is referred to and quoted often in the world press.
  • The Global Retirement Index, published every September. It ranks and compares the world's top 30 retirement destinations.
  • Instant access to 10 years of searchable issue archives online. This means you can access details, recommendations, and our on-the-ground contacts for just about any country on earth. For example, we recently introduced International Living readers to a health plan that gives you full, high-quality health coverage for $300 a year...and in a tropical paradise to boot.

And we're still just scratching the surface!

In the interest of space and time, let me try to BRIEFLY sum up some of the benefits you'll find in International Living:

Just Want to See the World?

ACCURATE INFORMATION

"A friend and colleague of mine sent me this article on the Mexican government by Suzan Haskins asking whether I felt it accurately reflected Mexican laws regarding foreign investment in land. It does, of course, but what makes it 'different' is that, in over 20 years of reading in this field (from news items to the investor reports published by the big rating companies), I had not read anything as seamless and flawless as this piece."
José Manuel Pallí, President, World Wide Title

The Best Real Estate In The World

CHOICES, CHOICES, CHOICES...

"I found your information both interesting and informative. It helped focus us on selecting a property that we currently are in the process of buying. Our goal is to put our toes in the real estate market by having someplace that is enjoyable as a vacation home, derive enough rental income to offset the annual carrying costs, and, over time, become more familiar with the market in the area. With this information we will ultimately decide on whether to move to Mexico on a permanent basis or simply vacation there as we have for many years and use the property as a source of income and a capital gain."
Stuart S.

"I love this newsletter. I have been to 23 countries and five continents in my short 37 years of life. My wife is from Panama and we are considering retiring overseas, most likely in a Spanish-speaking country, but not sure yet, there are so many beautiful places. Again, thank you for the work you put into this newsletter."
Wally C.

How about the best property buys in one of the least discovered (and most beautiful) spots in the Caribbean?

The sand is just as white as anywhere else in this part of the world. The sea is just as emerald. And real estate prices are unbelievably low. We'll tell you where to look for beachfront acres for less than $30,000...

In fact, there is prime beachfront property all over the world to be had for a song. One stretch of Pacific coastline boasts spectacular crimson sunsets...world-class surfing...and a laid back lifestyle. Yet real estate prices are up to 70% cheaper here than California—at least for now...

As we mentioned earlier, you can own your own Irish pub. What visitor to the Emerald Isle, after spending long evenings in local pubs drinking hot whiskeys and listening to "céilidh" bands, hasn't dreamt of owning one?

The good news is that it is easier—and less expensive—than you might imagine to turn this dream into reality. Falling values in Ireland will make this cheaper than ever in the next couple of years (we JUST spotted a mansion with 14 houses on the property...Asking price? €1,000,000!)

How to make a sure-fire investment in rental property in the south of France...Brazil...or any one of a dozen other countries in the world with an active holiday rental market...

Or a tiny, completely unspoiled South Pacific island that also happens to hide some tremendous property buys. A home with a magnificent sea view would cost you less than $25,000....

Maybe you're just sick and tired of the grind. Maybe it's time to...

Retire Overseas!

Yes you can...

  • Enjoy a million-dollar retirement—without touching your savings...
  • Find out where you can enjoy free medical and dental care...
  • Learn how to double your retirement resources - and live as though you had twice the income...

Other places where health care is very inexpensive...an eye examination costs less than $10, and you can have a cavity filled for $15 to $25...and in one of the places we have in mind health care is FREE!

In short, paradise does exist...countries where $1,000 a month will buy you a comfortable home in a beautiful setting, pay for your food and utilities, a housekeeper, a gardener, country-club dues...and even leave you with money left over for entertainment and travel!

But wait! There's more...

Taxes, Currencies and Investments

Are you the "money conscious" type? We've got just what you're looking for...

FOREVER GRATEFUL

"I am forever grateful for all your information, we really appreciate every word. Thank you so much, I do not know what I would do without IL. I will keep in touch and when we are settled in Chuburna, we will have to meet for dinner some day or, better yet, come on over for dinner and a swim and a margarita. Again, thank you so very much, and many thanks to IL for being really helpful. Muchas gracias."
Joy R.

There are overseas stock markets that have been the best-performing over the last few years. (Did you know that the Mexican exchange was up over 162% last year...while the S&P 500 was down 2%...Let's see...down 2% as opposed to up 162%...I'm sure you'll agree that would have been a good investment)

Peru was another triple-digit winner. And Venezuela, China and Russia all beat the U.S. by close to 50% or better.

And because past performance is not always an indication of future performance, International Living makes sure its readers know which markets look to be the best investments right now...

As I said, this all just scratches the surface. In 30 years of publishing International Living magazine, we've developed a network of experts who live all over the world and come from all sorts of professions and backgrounds. And each month, they reveal the candid truth about opportunities for a better life...a life you can start enjoying today.

Maybe that's why International Living has been called the "ultimate travel magazine." But again, we like to think of it as more than just a magazine. It really is a "doorway" to a better life.

That's because it brings the entire world, with all of its rich, rewarding, exciting opportunities, to you every month.

I must emphasize that this world of international opportunities is available to anyone...not just the rich and famous. That's one of the major reasons we publish International Living—to show you how to benefit from the rich rewards of an international, jet-set lifestyle without spending a fortune.

It's that...and more. It's for anyone who wants to broaden his or her horizons, visit foreign countries, make overseas investments, live and work or retire in paradise... and save money.

And There's Still More...

International Living surveys the best information available...from government agencies, from private firms, from independent analysis...and from our extensive network of roving contributors and correspondents, who report back to us daily on their discoveries.

As a benefit of your subscription, you'll get to hear from our contributors through FREE email updates. What you get is timely and ACTIONABLE information—information that could literally CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

This Could Be You...

"We'd been reading International Living for two years when we finally decided to take the plunge. In April 2004, we bought a small adobe casita on two acres...for $35,000. With a million-dollar view of the Andes and a retiree's price tag, we knew we had found our second home."
Bob and Glenda R.

Here are five alerts you missed—all from the past few months...

  • A note from a correspondent in Panama (an ULTRA popular destination these days) that mentions a BRAND NEW HOUSE for sale in Panama for $30,000.
  • A bulletin titled A Day Out in Paradise: $10.38! From Malaysian Borneo, a local real estate contact, Mr. Chong, says his foreign clients include Brits, Australians, and Koreans. Almost everyone speaks English.
  • The best deals on airfares to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Rio and Paris. From New York to Puerto Vallarta... the best deal saves you $643! LA to Rio... a saving of $615. NY to Paris...a saving of $160..
  • A special report about living abroad with Uruguay's English-speaking expats...although the author and his wife are content to live a quiet life with neighbors, they've just discovered a club of English-speakers who share information on everything from home renovation to Uruguay's fantastic and affordable health-care system.
  • Details of a home in a wine paradise in France for $36,000 (with low taxes). Your own cozy 18th-century house looking out over a green patchwork of vineyards. In the medieval square you can have an espresso and gaze down from the ramparts at the Loire River and its ever-changing banks. Lunch from the local market (earthy cêpe mushrooms, tender lettuce, free-range duck, and fresh creamy cheeses just right for your crusty baguette) and a bottle of your favorite wine, priced at cost from the producer. You can even rent a home in this corner of France from $415 a month. Utilities are rarely more than $125. And your groceries could be as low as $44 a week—without being frugal.

Did you notice they got a little longer with each one I mentioned? It's the brain gearing up...

You see...

THE POWER OF DREAMS

"Thank you, I enjoy your publication so much, and look forward to reading my e-mails from you. I just got back from Iraq, loved it there, and reading the letters and info that I would get from y'all would transport me via dreams to different places all over the world. Thank you for helping people dream and realize their dreams!! Because of you, and your great work, I am planning to move to Uruguay with my wife!! We are so thankful to y'all!"
—Glenn T.

There Is a Different World...

You read about one side of the world in your daily paper. You see it on the TV news. Murders. Wars. Airplane crashes. Politics.

But there is another side of the world...one you can't find out about by reading the paper, and certainly not by watching TV.

It is a world of delightful opportunities...opportunities for fun... pleasure... financial security and profits... romantic discoveries... adventure...

It is a world full of ways to change your life.

Maybe That's Why There's an Exodus from America...

The startling thing is that suddenly there is a huge exodus FROM America.

Long considered the land of opportunity and dreams, suddenly there are MILLIONS of people leaving America.

According the 1990 census, there were almost 4 million Americans living overseas.

Now, according to a well-researched book by John Wennersten, there are as many as 6 million Americans living overseas. And by 2015, he reckons, there will be another 3.3 million.

In late July, an article in U.S. News and World Report said some estimates are as high as another 3 MILLION AMERICANS LEAVING EVERY YEAR NOW.

Another article on NewsHealth.com recently wrote that 6 MILLION Americans a year are travelling abroad for surgeries and medical treatments.

These numbers are staggering... no matter how you slice them.

People are moving for all kinds of reasons. It's NOT a political exodus. Millions are traveling for the fun of it... for medical reasons. Others are seeking job opportunities in developing countries. Others are just looking for peaceful places to live and retire that will effectively double, triple... or quadruple their retirement dollars.

And International Living makes it as easy as it could possibly be to accomplish any of these desires.

Your One Stop Shopping For International Freedom

We like to believe that our 30 years of developing worldwide networks has given us the opportunity to provide more information than virtually any other publication.

As one reader wrote to us recently:

"Our only regret is that we waited so long to make the move."
—Darrell Bushnell, Living Overseas

Don't let this be your regret.

Darrell and Amy Bushnell didn't get any special "adventure gene." And they didn't suddenly come into mounds of cash, either. They simply did what you may have been thinking about: They matter-of-factly picked up stakes in North Carolina and moved overseas.

"Life Is Good"

DISCOVERED PARADISE IN THEIR OWN "BACK YARD"

"Although we had traveled extensively prior to our moving overseas in 1987, it was only then that we realized that we would not return to the States when we retired. Although we have found many delightful spots, there has always been something that stopped us from buying property and settling down—distance from the U.S., cost of living, infrastructure concerns, etc...Well, since we began reading the IL publications, we think we may have found what we have been looking for all this time and "in our own backyard." As much as we love [Thailand], the three-hour flight to Panama will continue to look much more inviting than the 20-plus hours to Asia.

"So, yes, we are looking forward to our first Panama visit and the chance to explore yet another 'retirement haven'...and if, in the end, Panama is not for us, we will continue our search...there are worse things in life than traveling the world in quest of 'Eden'. One of our favorite quotes tells it all: 'The world is a book...those who do not travel read only a page.'"
Jerry B.

"Life is good," Darrell says. "All of the restaurants here in Granada are within a short walk and the central park is only four blocks away... We have music concerts, horse parades, caring neighbors, and a lot of friends (both local and expats). Vendors come to our door selling everything from fruit to seafood. The main airport is 45 minutes away, and the beach is an hour and a half away. Our only regret is that we waited so long to make the move."

And not only is life good... it's affordable, too.

"Our costs," Darrell says, "are around $1,500 a month, which includes upkeep on our large home, Internet, two cell phones, a car, and a motorcycle. Car insurance is $65 a year. But we rarely drive, as we can walk everywhere. If we need to get a taxi, it costs about 50 cents. A maid, gardener, or caretaker is $80 to $120 a month, depending on the number of hours a week."

I share the Bushnell's story because, well, it could just as easily be your story. They didn't do anything you can't do, too.

Or consider the Hardmans. They're another couple "making a go of it" overseas. Six months a year, they live in France. On a barge, no less. In 2003, they bought their boat. And since then, they've spent April through September crawling through the canals of Europe (mainly France) at 5 miles an hour. Then they return home to Dallas, Texas, for the winter months, where they do a little work, though they're retired. And you know what? Right now you could own your own barge for $31,600.

There's Lee and Peg Carper, too. They live today on $600 a month in Ecuador—two hours north of Quito in the small Andean village of Cotacachi. And that $600 a month? It covers their food, utilities, medical expenses, even the rent on their new, 1,200-square-foot apartment.

"I haven't felt this good as long as I can remember," Lee says. "I used to take pain medication. But here I rarely take an Aspirin. I don't pick up a phone or get on the computer. I used to be glued to all that at home."

Take a dive. A very risk-free dive. Because all I'm asking you to do today is IMAGINE your life's possibilities.

Whether it's only a pleasant daydream...or the liberating knowledge that you always have an "escape ticket" in your back pocket...

Take the first step today. Try a RISK-FREE subscription to International Living magazine.

(Okay—that's just over 13 CENTS A DAY—almost a penny and a half more than the two year deal! I still think it's a great bargain.)

And we'll immediately email you a FREE copy of your special report: Your Little Piece of Paradise: The Best Place in the World to Live or Retire Today.

Either way, it's a great deal. So we invite you to give us a try. Come look. It's completely risk-free. The same guarantee applies.

So please, act now. You just might find you paradise—as I and so many others have. It's not hard—especially when we're here to lead you through everything. After all, we've been doing it for OVER THIRTY YEARS.

We lost count of how many lives we've seen changed since then.

Even if you never leave your door, I promise you'll treasure your subscription—just knowing you have other options for your life.

Six Months from Now, You Could Be Enjoying a Relaxed, Stress-Free Life in Your Own Little Piece of Paradise
